IIM AFRICA HOLDS INDUCTION, INVESTITURE FOR MEMBERSHIP IN ABUJA

The Institute of Information Management Africa (IIM Africa) has held yet another induction and investiture for the top executives, mid-career experts, professionals as well as graduates admitted on merit from various field of endeavours in Abuja and Lagos.

The induction which took place in Abuja yesterday was the second IIM induction in the Fourth Quarter of 2017, coming after the Port Harcourt Induction in September.

According to President, IIM Africa, Amb. Oyedokun Oyewole during the panel discussion with the theme “Information Vs Communication: Effective Information Management as a tool for Bridging Information and Communication Gap between the Government and the Governed” said Information Management is a powerful tool for rapid National Development citing Nigeria as a case study.

He highlighted the importance of information management to all sectors and industries in Nigeria, saying there is hardly any sector in Nigeria and anywhere in the world that would thrive without efficient and proper management of the quality information in its custody.

“No organisation, body, government agency or entity will thrive when it suffers dearth of information, that is how powerful information can be anywhere in the world hence the role of information management in achieving the key organisational goals and objectives cannot be overemphasised’’.

Oyedokun while reiterating the mission of the Institute stated that “our mission is to ensure that information management professionals are abreast of current and future challenges associated with managing information assets in an era of social, mobile, cloud and big data”.

“As part of our commitments towards ensuring global best practices, sharing lessons learned and networking with other similar international organisations, IIM Africa ensures high standard and internationally recognised learning, education and certification for our members via our various partnership/affiliation with renowned institutes and organisation in the industry worldwide”, he affirmed.

IIM Africa inducted members for the November induction in six categories namely: Honorary Fellows (FIIM), Professional Fellows (FIIM), Senior Professional Member (SPMIIM), Professional Member (PMIIM), Associate Member (AMIIM) and Graduate Member (GMIIM).
