Social Good Nigeria and her Partners – the Enspire Incubator and the Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria, Abuja, with support from Vinnova, Sweden – have put together an idea pitching contest for the hangout participants. This contest is the final phase of the Pop Incubator project across 5 states in Nigeria. The finalists – six contestants will be rewarded with Star prize – a trip to Sweden to meet Swedish business men and women

According to Jerry Agenyi, Co-founder, Social Good Nigeria and Coordinator, Pop Incubator Initiative, “Pop Incubator is an initiative of Social Good Nigeria with collaboration of Swedish Embassy launched in April 2015 as a pilot project, it was designed to build the capacity of entrepreneurs with an aim to promote/encourage the concept of Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation powered by Technology”

Previous hangouts featured fresh perspectives on exploring new or existing ideas for business or social development, and how to make them sustainable and scalable. The project has toured 5 States in Nigeria and the FCT in a space of 6 months – one hangout, one State per month he added.

Swedish Representative at the Contest

Name of the finalists from 5 states in Nigeria are Chibuike, Confidence, Ama, Raymond, Uduak and jude.

Chibuike – from Owerri who through the contest develops “AlaOwerri.Com” a platform that creates a digital story about the south east (igbos). A social enterprise that tell the story of igbos, and destruction guide, local contents.

Jude- from Akwa ibom and he develops  “Share qube” a platform that connects people that travels to have first hand experience on African culture. “We connect the travelers to house owners or host in a bid for the travelers to have a feel of the environment or culture by the real owners of the culture and a good home stay” he said.

Ama – from Ogun and he currently operates “Food Dailies” platform that connects farmers to the end users thereby bridge the gap between farmers and users and prevent food wastage.

Raymond – from Owerri and he created “wired job” an online platform that connects people for readily available jobs that’s meets temporary needs of clients. An outsourcing platform.

Uduak “Urua” – from Uyo and he operates a platform that connects farmers to end users and markets the farm produce.

Confidence –  He creates  “Beat Traffik” a platform that informs users on traffic situations around town, he uses drones and stationed cameras to monitor traffic situations and advice’ the users better. His is currently working with law enforcement agencies for better services.

Swedish Embassy representative from Vinnova who spoke at the event said the contest came at the right time when Nigeria is working towards economic diversification, he added that if attention is given to entrepreneurship, the SMEs will grow. The also posited that Nigerian youths have great potentials.
