#OperaAbuja2022: Thrills of AMEMUSO Opera at Transcorp Hilton!

It was another ambience of high octane excitement as usual, at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, last Sunday, 20th November, where the audience at the Congress Hall were held spellbound to the annual Abuja Metropolitan Music Society (AMEMUSO) Opera Performance!

“This indeed, is an unforgettable experience for me! said one of the non-Nigerian guests, at the show.

“I never thought I could find a show of this International standard and class here in Abuja, Nigeria” she stressed further.

Opera Abuja has over the years, become an annual event sponsored by Transcorp Hilton in collaborations with Abuja Metropolitan Music Society (AMEMUSO) as well as other top brands such as DOXA, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Federal Inland Revenue Service amongst others.

This year’s AMEMUSO was quite a special one, as Abuja residents both Nigerians, non-Nigerians as well as expatriates beat all odds and stepped out of their comfort zone to attend this awesome event, in spite of all sorts of speculations about insecurities, bordering around impending terrorists’ attack on the Capital City.

Themed ‘Carmen’ #OperaAbuja2022 had superlative performances from the best talents selected amongst the AMEMUSO Opera Singers.

‘Carmen’ tells a Story of love and challenges two persons who are in love may have to face for the true love to remain blossom.

Here is a review of Paul Stephen another attendee:

“The “Carmen 2022 – George Bizet” was extra-special! At first, I thought it would be boring and I won’t with the opera performances since most operatic shows are done in a foreign language, but everything about the program was perfect, from the choir to the instrumentals, to the sound, the ushers, the lighting, the ambience, everything was perfect!

“A tremendous THANK YOU to AMEMUSO and the Abuja Opera Choir for putting together and presenting to Abuja such a masterpiece in such a time like this. Everything was precisely delivered to perfection: the floor plan and flow, acoustics, media, stage set up and audience control, and the beautiful acts that made me connect with a time way before my birth. The event was absolutely beyond what I expected. I look forward to attending the next event.”

“For me, being my first time of seeing Opera being performed by Nigerians on Nigeria’s soil, and despite being a French blend of music, drama and culture show, Opera Abuja 2022 will always remain an unforgettable experience, said another attendee.
