Humanitarian and Humanity!

In the world today, News of conflicts, natural disasters, famine, drought and food crises and even war is gradually becoming part of our daily lives. It has been said by many religion leaders and experts that these are signs of end time. This could be true based on the prophecies from Holy Bible for Christian faithful which I happen to be part of. Definitely, we all know that someday this world might either come to end or humanity and their handiwork will come to nought. However, while humanity await this much talk about apocalypse, there is a lots of work to be done for the humanity itself. There are victims and casualties of these conflicts and crises that we hear about everyday on our radio and televisions ,millions are displaced as a result of unforeseen natural disasters. In some part Africa, millions have become victims of drought and famine, diseases and lack of clean and potable water to drink. We cannot sit back and fold our arms and watch these people languish in despair, we are all here on earth to give hope to one another.
In the past, we have heard and read stories of heros and heroines who lived a fulfilled and committed life helping the needy. Mother Theresa, an epitome of selfless love, she will forever be remembered for her good cause of feeding and caring for the needy on the streets of Calcutta till her death.
Oseola McCarty, She is one of the most amazing women in the world who has inspired millions of people around the world by her donation of $150,000 for a scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi. She probably did this for those orphans who do not have anyone to support their education. While this may not have been the largest single donation the school ever received, what was unique was that she had saved the money over the course of her life time from her modest earnings washing other people’s clothes. She was honoured with countless Honorary Degrees by universities across USA before her death. She eventually got all the degrees she had always dreamt of without stepping the university gate. How amazing! Oftentimes when we ignored our needs and be devoted in helping others, God himself takes care of our needs, because he loves a cheerful giver. Humanitarian assignment is for everyone of us. No one is left out! Let us begin to do that which is good to one another. Last year, a lot of people were displaced by incessant flood in Nigeria, In Ivory coast, conflict claimed numerous lives and their families lived in despair. Liberia, sierra Leone, Guinea and some other part of West Africa are still battling Ebola epidemic, those victims of Ebola are not cursed they are just victims of circumstance. Our duty is to give them support and not stigmatisation and rejection. Let us rise and give hope to the hopeless, however little!
