Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) has issued a stern warning to the Federal Government and relevant authorities to boycott any planned activity to mark the forthcoming June 12 – a day set aside to celebrate NIgeria’s Democracy, and rather instensify their efforts to rescue the innocent school children and their teachers who have been abducted and taken into the forest for over four weeks in Oyo State, without any help in sight.

The Coalition made this known at a Press Conference organized in Abuja to raise more awareness on School Safety for children across the country particularly as the issues of banditary and kidnapping have become the major challenge to Education in Nigeria.

CSACEFA further reiterated that the FGN needs to pull all resources together and be proactive in its efforts towards rescuing the School children and their teachers that have been abducted in Borno and Oyo State and across the country, as the protection of lives of the citizens should be the priority of any responsive government.

According to CSACEFA Policy Advisor, Mrs Odinakachi, “FGN must begin to work the talk, and prioritize the safety of the school children rather than celebrating any democracy day. If the government fails to protect the lives of the citizens and everyone gets killed by the kidnappers and bandits who will they govern over?? “

“At this juncture, we had expected relevant authorities and several other security operatives across the country to have joined forces in order to speed up the rescue mission towards saving these school children but it’s unfortunate that such efforts haven’t been seen or felt”

“Sadly, all we have been seeing and hearing are the campaigns content for 2027 re-election of our President”

“We don’t want any democracy day celebration! All we want as a Coalition on Education for all is the safe release of those school children and teachers in Oyo and Borno States” she said.
