Executive Governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago has once again demonstrated to the good people of Niger State the priority he places on speedy and sustainable economic development of the state as he officially handed over 500 hectares of land to Abuja Steel Mills Ltd on Saturday.
The 500 hectares was earmarked for the establishment of a Solar Farm and Industrial Park in Diko, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the #FarmerGovernor described the project as a landmark investment that will transform the state’s industrial landscape, create jobs, and further position Niger State as a preferred destination for sustainable economic growth and private investment.
The project according to Bago, marks another major step in Niger State’s industrial transformation. Plans are also underway to develop what is expected to become one of the largest solar farms in West Africa, further positioning Niger State as a leading hub for renewable energy, industrialization, and economic growth.
Founder of Abuja Steels Limited, Raj Gupta, while delivering his remarks during the groundbreaking and handover ceremony of 500 hectares of land, expressed appreciation to the Niger State Government for its support and commitment to industrial development. He noted that the allocation of the 500 hectares of land marks a significant milestone in the realization of the company’s vision to establish a world-class industrial hub in Niger State.
The land will form part of the area designated for the development of a 100-megawatt power project, a strategic investment expected to boost industrial growth, strengthen power supply, and create employment opportunities for thousands of people across the state and beyond.

The project is expected to boost power supply, accelerate industrialization, and create employment opportunities for the people of Niger State.
With this and other ongoing investments, Niger State is steadily positioning itself to host one of the largest solar power projects in West Africa, reinforcing its status as a hub for energy and industrial development.
