Financial Institutions, Airline Operators donate massively to contain the spread of #Covid19 in Africa

Amidst global lockdown and in a bid to contain the spread of Coronavirus (Covid19) in Africa, Financial Institutions in Nigeria such as Access Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Guaranty Trust Bank as well as Airline operator like Aero Contractor have made giant strides through their massive donations and procurement of medical equipments and emergency provisions in the last few weeks.

According to our correspondent, “earlier this week, UBA approved N5 billion to tackle COVID-19. In which N1bn would be spent to equip some of the Nigeria medical centers with ventilators and medical supplies”. 

“Through this donation, N1bn has been earmarked for an emergency Covid19 Center centre in Lagos State alone”. 

“While N500m will be expended in setting up another centre in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. And N1bn will be used to purchase ventilators and equipment in the other 35 states”.

In this same vein, GTBank already finishing the 100-bed emergency isolation centre with ventilators inside Onikan stadium in Lagos State. While they also made provisions for 19 Ventilators at Federal Medical Centre in Delta State in preparation for all eventualities.

Also Access Bank is currently working toward building a 1000-bed centre for COVID-19 patients in the Country.

To compliment the efforts made by these Financial institutions, the Chief Executive Officer of Aero Contractor, Ado Sanusi has offered his air planes and helicopters to be used in transporting medical equipment and personnel across the country during this COVID-19 lockdown. This should normally cost millions of Naira, but it will now be free for motherland.
