Mandela Washington Fellows Alumni set to host YLA in Abuja!

The Mandela Washington Fellows Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN) has unveiled its plan to host 2019 Young Leaders Assembly (YLA) in Abuja, in September with the theme “The Future of Work”.

This was disclosed at a Press Conference in Abuja yesterday by the Association which is a flagship programme of the Young African Leaders Initiative, an initiative of the US Government through the US Department of States.

According to President, MWFAAN, Lamide Johnson, while speaking to the Press men “The Young Leaders Assembly unites over 1000 active Nigeria Youth Leaders who are global citizens and progressive thought leaders around a common aim – localising ideas and collaborative actions to promote sustainable National Development annually”.

“It has become imperative to create these viable and sustainable platforms for young leaders in Nigeria and Africa through several initiative such as this and hopefully create avenues to applaud the outstanding ones amongst them which is one important messages we shall be passing through YLA in September”

He added that outstanding members of the Alumni who have done excellently well in their personal and social impact projects will be given awards and consolation prizes as form of incentives at the event.

Johnson said the MWFAAN which is Nigerian arm of the Alumni Network is believed to be largest and strongest youths network in Africa.

“MWFAAN prides itself with about 405 young leaders providing leadership for over 120,000 YALI network members which is the largest in Africa” he remarked.

YLA 2019 has been scheduled to hold on 14th September 2019.
