Murder in the College: “Education Should be a Refiner” – Omole Babatunde

The National Leadership of Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) has condemned in totality, the gruesome murder of Miss Deborah Yakubu , a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, Nigeria.

In a Press Statement issued earlier today, Babatunde Omole, who is the current National Moderator, CSACEFA called on all security agencies to do a thorough and complete investigation into this matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.

In his words: “Islam is a religion of peace and not a hiding place for criminal marauders without regard for human life”

He added that the regret and sadness are more profound considering that such an incident happened in an educational institution supposed to be a refiner of men and a sanctuary for safety.

“We call on the Federal Government and Governments at all levels to ensure maximum security at all institutions of learning in this country to forestall a repeat of such a painful and unforgettable experience.”

“Educational institutions should do more to reform their students in character, morals, and learning. The increasing statistics on various forms of violence in learning institutions are very alarming. We must nip this virus in the bud before it destroys the very fabric that holds us together.” said Omole.
