Today, international Day of peace is celebrated across the globe. Civil Society Organizations [CSOs] in Nigeria have consistently observed this day in accordance to United Nations since 1982. Nigeria, a nation known for its diverse ethnics and political divide and having been confronted with myraids of security challenges in the last 10 years has not relented in her quest in entrenching and promoting peaceful co-existence among her Citizens and neighbouring countries.
The International Day of Peace, sometimes unofficially known as World Peace Day, is observed annually on 21 September. It is dedicated to world peace, and specifically the absence of war andviolence, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone for humanitarian aid access. The day was first celebrated in 1982, and is kept by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples.
