Hello Readers

LitClub holds every Saturday by 2pm and it is organized by Global Girls Rising and LitWorld’s 10,000 Global Girls Initiative in partnership with Connected Development [CODE] and Reaching Out To African Girls Initiative (ROTAGI). LitClubs offer members a safe space in which to explore their reading, writing, speaking and listening lives with the guided mentorship of a LitClub Mentor. LitClubs cultivate strong, self-confident, hopeful community leaders who believe in the power of story and the importance of words to change worlds.

Most of the workshop sessions are to be centred around the 7 strengths of LitWorld which are:

Belonging – Identifying as a needed, loved, and respected member of one’s family, community, and world as a whole

Curiosity – Fostering a willingness to explore new territory and test new theories

Friendship – Having close, trusting relationships with others

Kindness – Being tender towards others in the world who are in need, both near and far

Confidence – Thinking independently and expressing ideas with assurance

Courage – The strength to do something that you know is right, even though it may be difficult

Hope – Thinking optimistically and believing that today’s efforts will produce good things in the future for you and for the world

Volunteers will receive training and ongoing support as LitClub Mentors and as one-to-one mentors for girls in their community. Volunteers will also have opportunities to connect as a global learning community.

Volunteer mentors should be female and between the ages of 18-35 years.

There is no financial support for LitClub volunteer mentors at the moment.
