casts and crew of the film “The Good Life”
Yesterday December 15th, 2014, Henrichi Boell Foundation (HBF) finally launched the anticipated movie “The Good Life”. According to Christine Kay, Executive Director, HBF West Africa, she said “The Good Life is a musical movie that shows young Nigerians looking for solutions for jobs, careers and justice in their lives. Some of them create their own power solutions, some demand solutions from election candidates. They all know that Nigeria cannot develop without concrete plans for rising supplies in electricity.” The Good Life needs POWER she posited.
The educative musical movie which was premiered at Silverbird Cinema, Abuja parades star artistes like DJ Switch (GLO X Factor Winner 2013), Six Foot Plus (Renowned Nigerian Artiste), Shaffy-Bello Akinrimisi (Award Winner, Best of Nollywood) and other top Nollywood stars.
Deji Arosho, the producer of the Good Life said, “this is a new format for a new message. The music in the film carries the message that Nigerians are tired of waiting for opportunities, tired of waiting for power, waiting for light… The characters in the film are bold demanding and entrepreneurial. The movie has a clear message. This is another way, let there be light!, he affirmed.

Azeerna, Project Manager, HBF says HBF has supported this film production to engage civil society, media and other relevant stakeholders in a debate on practical energy concepts for Nigeria.
After seeing this movie, it was dawn on me that Nigerian society seems complacent and not worried about the current situation of the power and Energy sector. This is need for every citizen to get involved in electioneering proper and make the provision of basic infrastructure as paramount come 2015 General election. Electioneering time is here, and power is a major issue on many candidates’ agenda, what power do the candidates propose to Nigerians? Where will it come from, and how can generation be sustained over the next years?
Nigeria has added about 1,500MW to its national grid over the past fifteen years. In the next 15 years, Nigeria will need close to 200,000 MW to sustain a decent life for everyone. The GAS alone cannot provide all the solutions. Nigeria has huge potential for exploiting RENEWABLE ENERGIES such as solar, wind, hydro or biomass. These potentials are not tapped into in a sustained manner, despite several low-key efforts.
