Nigerian Railway Records Unprecedented Revenue of N1.69Bn!

In the second quarter of 2024, the Nigerian rail system reported a revenue of N1.69 billion from passenger fares, marking a significant increase of 53.14% compared to the N1.10 billion earned during the equivalent period in 2023.

This information was revealed by the National Bureau of Statistics in a report published on Thursday.

The report indicates that during the second quarter, rail travel saw a total of 689,263 passengers, marking an impressive growth rate of 45.38 percent when compared to 474,117 passengers in the same quarter of 2023.

The amount of goods transported by rail experienced a remarkable rise, reaching 143,759 tons in the second quarter of 2024, compared to just 56,936 tons in the same quarter of 2023.

Furthermore, the Nigerian Railway Corporation announced that 5,940 tons of goods were transported via pipelines in Q2 2024, a notable increase from the 2,856 tons reported during this period last year.
