Dec 20, 2018 #Dapo Abiodun

Opposition to the APC governorship candidate for Ogun State, Mr Dapo Abiodun, seems to be growing as protesters numbering over 100, under the name “MASSES AGAINST ELECTORAL FRAUD”, besieged INEC Thursday December 20th urging the commission to disqualify Dapo Abiodun and his Party APC from contesting the upcoming governorship election in the state citing several allegations bordering on “perjury, forgery, lying on oath, and orchestrating a fraudulent process of emergence as APC governorship candidate”.

Carrying various placards, reading
“INEC MUST DISQUALIFY DAPO ABIODUN/APC NOW”
“Olodo (meaning dullard) Dapo cannot be Ogun State governor”,
“Tinubu, Ogun is not Lagos State”, “We Reject Chicagogate in Ogun State” among others, the protesters sang solidarity songs and called Dapo and the Party leaders many unprintable names descending heavily on Asiwaju Tinubu and the Party’s national chairman. As at the time of filing this report, the protesters, led by Comrade Ishola Adesina, himself an Ogun State indigene, have proceeded to the National Assembly vowing to continue their protests until the authorities act according to their demands.

It would be recalled that recently the media has been awashed with allegations of Dapo Abiodun missing the NYSC service and making false academic claims for which he has sued to court by another Ogun State indigene, Mr Baruwa.

Protesters in front at the INEC National Secretariat

The protest went without incident as the protesters kept a safe distance from the alert security agents manning the INEC National Secretariat.

Meanwhile, serious clashes with security agencies were averted at the beginning of the protests as a combined team of plainclothes and stern-looking mobile Police teams at the gate of INEC insisted that the protesters cannot be allowed to stage their protests at the front of the Commission.

Serious arguments ensued as the protesters remained adamant, while the mobile policemen threatened fire and brimstone to shoot at any trespassing protester.

Protesters with banners and placards

After protesting for almost an hour at the preccints of INEC, they marched to the Party’s headquarters where they continued their protests insisting that APC withdraw from the Ogun State governorship election because the Party had imposed “potential disaster on the state because Dapo is a person of very questionable antecedents”.
The protests at the Blantyre Street national headquarters of the APC is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.

Much details of this development to be shared soon.
