In order to tackle the housing shortage across the country, Oyetunde Ojo, the Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), has announced that the federal government will construct 500 residential units in Kaduna.

To this effect, Kaduna has designated 157 hectares of land to the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) for the purpose of developing mass housing.

On Tuesday in Kaduna, Ojo addressed the audience upon being granted the right of occupancy (RoO) for 157 hectares of land by Uba Sani, the state governor.

Ojo mentioned that the project will be carried out in stages, noting that it will begin prior to the year’s end.

He mentioned that the project was launched by the government to ensure that the well-being of the people is given top priority.

He said, “With 157 hectares of land, we can assure the residents of Kaduna that, in phases, we will do more than 500 housing units of different categories.

“We will make sure we build massively because this is the message of Mr president to make sure we deliver houses for Nigerians at an affordable rate.

“This is why we keep telling Nigerians to be patient a little bit because this is a journey.”

“The federal housing authority will be building, the federal ministry of housing and urban development is building, and even private developers are building.

“That is why the federal executive council has recently passed the infrastructural fund, in which FHA is going to be a major beneficiary.

“We are assuring Nigerians that, in one year from now, they won’t be able to count the number of housing units that are delivered.”
