The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has dismissed Petition of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) for Tinubu’s Qualifications today at the ongoing final verdict.
Tribunal also rejected the admissibility of evidence tendered by LP’s web engineer, Mpeh Ogar, regarding a technical glitch observed on the INEC result viewing portal because Ogar “was an interested party in the petition having vied for elective office on LP’s platform” according to the Panel
According to Justice Haruna Tsammani, chairman of the panel, “witnesses 3,4,5,6, 7,8,9,10,11 and 13 subpoenaed by Peter Obi/LP are not witnesses of the court. The witness statements, were filed out of time.”
The Tribunal further dismissed Petition of Peter Obi/LP on 25% of FCT required to wins Presidential election, the court rule that FCT Citizens do not enjoy special privileges ahead of other States.
On the fine of $460,000 Drugs Case
Tribunal has ruled that the sentence of crime for any offence involving dishonesty or fraud from section 37(d) has to be a criminal offence and Peter Obi/LP failed to provide evidence that forfeiture is criminal while the respondents proved it was not criminal.
Tribunal has earlier rejected the European Union report on the Presidential election on the grounds that they were not tendered by an official of the body which is the author and has the custody of the document.
More updates to come on the final verdict.
