“We are now empowered to transform our universities” – Nigerian Universities’ Lecturers

Nigerian Universities’ Lecturers have described their learning experiences at the recently concluded 5 day Pedagogy training workshop organised by National Universities Commission (NUC) in collaboration with University of Sussex, United Kingdom as an unforgettable, ‘once in a lifetime’ empowerment.

Sharing their experiences on Friday with Dotunroy.com correspondents after 5 day of intensive training sessions on “Transformative Teaching Education and Pedagogy Practice” facilitated by the University of Sussex delegation.

One of the Participants, a top university lecturer,  Dr Iyabode Nwabueze, Professor of English at National Open University said she has been empowered through the workshop.

“To say I’m impressed with every experience I have had throughout this workshop would be an understatement” Iyabode remarked.

“We have been taught how to effectively utilize technology to enhance our interactions with the students as well as how to use same technology to collaborate with students for improved academic results” she said.

Another top University lecturer, Professor Benjamin Adewi from Federal University of Technology, Akure said he had gained a lot from the workshop.

“I feel so excited to be part of this training. I would also like to commend the efforts of NUC for deeming it fit to collaborate with the University of Sussex” he said.

“I have gained so much regarding how to handle large classes which is one of the major challenges University Lecturers often face in this part of world”. he stated.

Adewi also added that through this training they have been exposed and taught how to use several tools for upgraded learning in the University.

All participants were also presented with the certificate of completion at the end of the workshop.
