YALI Network declares her commitment to promote culture of Accountability, Transparency in Nigeria!

Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI Network FACE2FACE) Abuja has declared her commitments to promote and support the entrenching culture of Transparency and accountability through her several interventions and projects.

One of which is the forthcoming Accountability and Transparency Summit scheduled to hold between 4th and 6th of September, 2018 in Abuja.

This declaration was made today at the Press Conference organized by the Network at the Ventures Platform, Abuja.

According to Ovo Otarigho, the current Coordinator of the Young African Leaders Initiative, YALI Network Face2Face, Abuja, “We the Young African Leaders and young citizens of this country have come together to define a better path for the country. We recognise that for citizens to enjoy the dividends of democracy, Government, Institutions and Individuals must be ACCOUNTABLE”.

He added that young Nigerians who are members of the YALI Network are currently analyzing problems in every state of the country, analyzing the human and natural resources of each state and will converge for three days in Abuja (4th of September to the 6th of September 2018 ) to proffer solutions to the problems and suggest how best the

human and natural resources of each state could be best utilized for every state to attain self sufficiency, create jobs and boost economic activities, while reducing states over dependence on federal allocation.

“We know Government alone cannot solve all problems; that is why we have chosen to support the government in
meeting the needs of the citizens”.

“This event will foster citizen participation in democracy, prevent corrupt practices and ensure Good Governance in recognition of the Chapter 3 of the African Union Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG) which encourages citizens to be actively involved in democratic processes and ensure accountability, said Ovo.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI Network) is an initiative of the US Government, its members comprise students, Civil Society Organizations, Civil servants (youths) and entrepreneurs, who devote their time and resources to create impacts in their local communities across the 36 states of the country.
