Africa Clean Up Conference & Award 2018 kicks off in Togo!

GRAAL HOTEL Hôtels 200m face ENAM, à côté de l’école Alpha Tokoin Kodomé in Lomé, Togo starts today 23rd August, 2018 receiving guests billed to attend the 2018 Africa Clean Up Conference and Award.

Delegates from Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Togo have registered to be in attendance in this conference which marks the 3rd edition since 2016 the conference began in Nigeria.

Scheduled for 23rd – 26th August, 2018 with the theme, ‘The Business of Environmental Sustainability’ the conference is designed to promote networking, collaborations while delegates gather knowledge that aids to proffer solutions to issues that concerns the African community.
The conference presentations are centered on – Recycling & Upcycling, Renewable Energy, Solid Waste Management/Environmental Sustainability and Collaboration in the environmental industry. There will also be delegate group discussions and presentations as well as a tour for fun and education.

The Togolese Commissioner for Environment is expected to be around for the event to officially declare the event open.

According to Mr. Alex Akhigbe, there is also going to be an exhibition by Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) during the conference. They will be exhibiting a laundry basket or waste bin made from post-consumer PET bottles. The initiative was produced through her Department of Environmental Services as part of the organization’s commemoration of the 2018 World Environment Day with the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.

“This is the first time we are having an exhibition during the conference. We will keep improving on the features of the conference to better promote the African community.”

“We commend the effort of FAAN for such laudable innovation and want to encourage other organisations to do something for the environment. As well as take advantage of the platform of the Africa Clean Up Conference and Award to showcase it to the rest of the world,” he said.

More so, some organisations who merited to be celebrated for their support of environmental projects and sustainability will receive award of recognitions during the award ceremony billed to take place on Saturday, 25th August, 2018.
