Hi Abuja, after much anticipation, we’re set to host the second edition of fire on the mixer DJ contest labeled ‘Fire on the mixer DJ contest volume 1+1’ which will hold on Sunday, 26 November, 2017, Time 2pm . Get ready to hear the greatest collection of incredible mixing and turn table techniques in Nigeria, Africa at this multi-cultural networking event.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT
This contest seeks to shine a light on key talents in the entertainment industry and we all know that DJ Contest is always a glamorous event and this year’s FIREONTHEMIXER:DJ Contest Vol. 1+1 is no exception. It has been designed to achieve the following:
- To empower and encourage DJs
- To serve as the platform that will expose DJs to millions of their potential clients easily
- Promote the love of music and culture
- Promote music, artistry and culture of Nigeria
- Be the platform and opportunity for DJs and upcoming artist to display their creativity and boost their portfolio
- Create celebrity DJs in Nigeria
- Occupy the minds of the youth positively and take off their minds from social vices
- Encourage and promote upcoming artists
- As a source of entertainment
Contestants (DJs) will play live in front of 5 panel of judges, live crowd and each and every one of the contestants have “5 good minutes to show what they got”. DJs will go head – to – head till 3 winners for our outstanding prizes, contract management, marketing and promotion deals emerge.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:
Below is the basis of judging to get the winners. Also, appropriate total marks will be apportioned to each criterion by the Judges as soon as they are selected.
CRITERIA 1 – STAGE PERFORMANCE
The Judges are in search of a DJ that is confident and is able to show it, whether by ‘fist pumping’, ‘head nodding’, dancing in front of the crowd, or anything; participants need to be moving his/her body in order to gain mark. In other words, the participants need to own the stage.
CRITERIA 2 – PROGRAMMING / CROWD REACTION
The judges are looking out for, how well a DJ is getting the crowd charged up? Is the DJ reading the crowd and playing the right songs? If the crowd is not feeling the DJ, the judges would certainly not be feeling the DJ as well. So, the DJ will lose marks.
CRITERIA 3 – TECHNICAL ABILITY
The Judges are looking out for originality in the Deejaying craft. How good is the DJ in Scratching, Mixing, Beat Juggling, Drumming and transition into another song. The judges want to be sure that the DJ owns the remix he/she is playing. If the remix a DJ is playing is not original to the DJ (playing recorded mix) the DJ is disqualified.
CRITERIA 4 – DRESS CODE
Here the judges are looking out for appropriate dress or fashion sense. This criterion is included to instill a decent fashion sense. Improper dressing makes one to loose mark.
