Top Gospel acts and other celebrities in Abuja such as Phil Roberts, Samsong, Asu Ekiye, Paul Play Dairo, Comedian CRISNOW and Dotun Roy all came out on Thursday, 24 March to commission Shining Stars Orphanage in Abuja.
According to Phil Roberts, the initiator of this new orphanage project and Convener of forthcoming NOW CONCERT in Abuja , ” Being a gospel artiste, i have always been passionate about humanitarian support and projects, seeing these kids living in squalor and dilapidated structure was quite touching and ever since i have taken it as a point of duty to see that this orphanage wears new look. With limited encouragement and support from kind hearted Nigerians such as the Special Assistant to Senate President on Youth Matters, and few others, the rehabilitation was successfully completed. and here we are giving hope and putting smiles on the faces of these beautiful kids”
Mac-Obi Oscar is the Special Assistant to Senate President on Youth Matters who was also the major supporter for the Orphanage project spoke to us when asked how his portfolio as SA to Senate President on Youth Matters relates to the project which include taking care of young orphans, less privilegded kids and physically challenged? he said “As you can see, I am here to commission this Orphanage to better the lives of these innocent kids. Although it’s a project by Phil Robert, however, we have to support it all way because these kids are the future of this nation so it is important to start with them by catching them young. Phil Robert shared this initiative with us from the outset, on the need to help rehabilitate the orphanages and build new ones which we have successful completed and we are commissioning. We are also endorsing NOW CONCERT by Phil Robert coming up in April.
Mr Oscar also beamed light on the projects and programmes his Portfolio will be introducing soon. “we are currently working on a project called ‘’Bill Appraisal Youth Forum”. The idea behind this project to get young Nigerians to be indirectly involved and participate in decision-making by appraising Bill at its formative stage and probably add and substract any unlikely threats to their interests before the Bill becomes an Act. In other words, this initiative would help teeming Nigerian youth to become more conversant with what legislature is all about. Another programme initiated by our office is Legislative Mentorship Programmes, although still in the pipeline. This programme would create more platforms for prospective young legislatures to be mentored by those Senators they look up to within the 8th Assembly. This would be a kind of tutelage needed to nuturing their political career in the future.” he explained.
