African Economic Merit Awards To Boost Africa Economic Growth

The organisers of the African Economic Awards (AEMA) have expressed optimism that aside from  rewarding African entrepreneurs and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that have ‎contributed immensely to the development of Africa, it would also stimulate international business community.
The President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), AEMA, Mr. McEva Temofe‎ disclosed this on Wednesday at a press conference in Abuja where he said AEMA was aimed at boosting economic growth in African communities by uniting successful business entrepreneurs with the latest talents.

Temofe‎ added that it would also enrich the soil and give hope to Africans with agricultural, technology and business initiative.
His words: “We said, let us encourage and stimulate the international business community to power growth in the grassroots to adopt ethical business and  entrepreneurial standard. To raise awareness among business leaders and employees on recognising local creative and productive minds.
“On this platform, we develop community empowerment programmes for sustainable growth and peaceful co-existence. As a brand made up of dynamic, self-motivated youth, we intend to harness Africa’s Economic, business and social resources using modern administrative methods.

“We also aim to encourage job creation across Africa through our grassroots community development programmes and encourage smaller businesses by creating awareness and synergy between craftsmanship, business prospects and governmental bodies saddled with similar business development programs in a bid to build sustainable future for Africans‎,” Temofe added.
Earlier, Executive Director Media , Mr. Senator Iroegbu said the AEMA was a departure from the norm, as it would bridge the gap between the elite and the grassroots, thereby touching every strata of the economy, and identifying the hidden talents that have not being harnessed.

The project, which he said would be media driven would also project Africa to the next level, while  pointing out that the role of the media was also to project innovations from African perspective and bring it to the limelight.
Iroegbu emphasised that it was not enough to report what the politicians are doing alone, but stressed that it was high time the media refocus to what he called developmental journalism that would boost the African economy.
He said that AEMA is driven by a team of young Africans in various professional endeavours including media, law, business, and development agencies amongst others.
Also speaking, one of the Executive Directors of AEMA, Ms Aliya Alkali said that the pan-African initiative that currently has its presence in more than 10 African countries and intends to spread its tentacles in all African countries with its maiden edition wards to be held on December 2, 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria, while the 2nd and 3rd editions would be held in Nairobi, Kenya (2017) and South Africa (2018) respectively.

Alkali said the award was  aimed at boosting economic growth in African communities by uniting the successful business entrepreneurs with the latent talents; enriching the soil and giving hope to Africans with Agricultural, Educational, Technology and Business initiatives.
“We develop community empowerment programmes for sustainable growth and peaceful coexistence. As an outfit made up of  dynamic, self motivated youths with the  intention to  harness  Africa’s  economy,  business  and  social  resources  using  modern  administrative  methods.
“We  also  aim  to  encourage  job  creation  across  Africa  through  our  grassroots community development programs and support smaller businesses by creating awareness  and  synergy  between  craftsmanship,  business  prospects  and  the  governmental  bodies saddled with similar business development programs in a bid to build a sustainable future for Africans,” she said.
“We are working towards giving hope to Africans who have given up the creative ideas and business skills to power ideas of craftsmanship into a successful future,” she added.
Other Executive Directors who spoke at the event are Oluwatuyi Kayode, Delita Whitefield, JJ Omojuwa and Aisha Haruna.
