Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State Prof. Mobolaji Aluko has said Cybersecurity is a big issue in Nigeria. He said this today 21th July at the 2015 edition of Nigeria Internet Governance Forum (NIGF 2015) in Abuja. The theme for this year forum was “focusing on harnessing the potentials of Internet governance for sustainable development in Nigeria”.
Prof. Mobolaji Aluko who chaired this year forum said there are myriads of challenges confronting internet governance across the globe and Nigeria is not exempted.
According to the President of the Forum, Chairperson of the Nigeria Internet Governance Local Multi-stakeholders Advisory Group, Mrs. Mary Uduma, said the objective of this year’s forum is geared toward harnessing and engaging the potentials of Internet governance multi-stakeholder process in achieving sustainable development goals in the country. She further expressed her satisfaction about the success and the speedy implementation of the resolutions reached at the 2014 NGIF.
She also added, that Youth Workshop which formed part of 2015 NGIF has helped us to identify the gaps in promoting Internet governance for youth empowerment, while building on the existing opportunities to enhance the growth of young entrepreneurs within the Internet space.
All these resolutions compiled will be presented at the Global level in Brazil in November she posited.
