Dorothy Njemanze Foundation (DNF) rolls out drums today 30th June to mark 16th Birthday of Blessing Yahaya, a survivor of domestic sexual abuse. Blessing whose story of sexual abuse started as a minor right under her mother’s nose and against her wish. She was only 8 when the man who ought to be her father figure started abusing her sexually instead.
She has been able to pull through those hurts and agonies she experienced in her formative years, therefore we took it upon ourselves as an organisation with a mission to restore the dignity of the victims of abuse, particularly girls child and people with disabilities to celebrate this young woman as a survivor at 16, said Dorothy Njemanze, Co-founder DNF.
She further added that minor in Nigeria must be encouraged by all to speak up against sexual violence. We must collectively combat it. Such violence during the formative stage could negatively affect the victim later on in life. She alluded.
Celebrities such as John fashanu, Racheal bakam, Dotun Roy were all present to wish Blessing Yahaya more years of celebrations.
