Ahmed Bachaka, Chief Whip of the Parliament, Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP) has urged both top political contenders for the Presidential seat in this coming General Election: the APC Presidential Candidate, Muhammadu Buhari and the People Democratic People (PDP) Presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to accept the outcome of 2015 General Election as it comes, “whoever emerges victorious after the election should be accepted as our President for another four years”. He pleaded further that “Opposition parties should shun violence or all sorts of inflammatory words or actions such that may occur after the forthcoming election”
As the Chip Whip of the NYP, a leading Youth organisation in Nigeria, Bachaka have been working relentlessly in collaboration with the Commonwealth Youth Council, being a higher platform of more than 1 billion youths across the globe to ensure violence free election in Nigeria through its various campaign strategies one of which is Youth Campaign Against Election Violence (YCAEV) flagged off in Abuja, early last year. “It is our duty as YCAEV Ambassadors and Marshals to dissuade our fellow Nigerian youths to desist from all sort of political thuggery and other hideous crimes that could jeopadise the success of this coming election” he affirmed.
In the same vein, the Chief Whip also called on other political office seekers to avoid any political violence before, during and after the election as this may lead to political instability with negative effects on Nigeria’s national development. In a statement signed yesterday while representing NYP in Benin Republic: Bachaka alluded that NYP is totally against any form of political violence in Nigeria and call on all Nigerian citizens to do away with any act of violence that may hinder the peace and progress of this nation.
